Earlier this year, LG Electronics introduced seven 4K OLED TVs. The hook on OLED is that it promises a picture that’s better than plasma, but in a package that’s thinner than LED. While that sounds completely awesome, that type of promise typically comes with a pretty hefty price attached.
Well, not today.
We found Amazon discounting LG’s 55-inch Floating Art Slim Flat 4K OLED TV (Model 55EF9500). This model typically sells for $3,999.99, but Amazon is slashing 25 percent off of that to bring the price down to $2,997.99. That even includes free shipping! This model features a 3840 x 2160 resolution, the Tru-4K Upscaler for better everyday images, and a quad-core processor. It also has LG’s WRGB technology, which adds in a white sub-pixel for more lifelike colors.
The 55EF9500 is also a Smart TV, so it includes on-screen access to all sorts of web-enabled services. This particular model is a “Netflix Recommended TV,” which means it’s passed all sorts of tests to make sure it delivers the best Netflix experience possible. That Netflix access is just one part of the webOS 2.0 Smart TV platform, which is new for 2015. This means it has the latest and greatest user experience, as well as new content and a reduced boot time. It even has the Launcher Bar, which is designed to make it easier to access favorite content.
Other features on this TV include wide viewing angles, audio via a partnership with Harman/Kardon, and a transparent stand that almost makes it look like the TV is floating.
