Legally Blonde
You gotta hand it to Reese Witherspoon. I can’t think of many actresses who could carry a movie whose only attribute is its own vacuousness. She nearly does it.

Shockingly awful, insultingly stupid adaptation of the graphic novel which sees a group of literary characters team up for…oh, never mind.
Robert Redford and James Gandolfini dodge, parry and nearly carry Rod Lurie’s tense but weightless prison drama.
‘Speed’ director Jan De Bont seems to have lost the ability to intelligently direct an action scene, but Angelina Jolie’s wardrobe alone almost makes this mediocre ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ clone worth watching. Almost.
Dull even as a video game adaptation and remarkable solely for the fact that Angelina Jolie looks disturbingly like computer-generated heroine Lara Croft, this is a ‘Tomb’ with a view…and not much else.
The Coen Brothers concoct another delicious trifle of a film, this time with Tom Hanks biting into the plum role of the Poe-spewing head of a band of misfit casino robbers.
Hong Kong writer, producer, director, star Stephen Chow pulls out all the stops in this screwball parody of everything kung fu movies stand (and fight) for. While the film eventually degenerates into standard combat one-upmanship, Mr. Chow keeps the gags flying almost as rapidly as the fists.
Another Jet Li vehicle gone awry thanks to the Ritalin generation’s need for quick Mtv-style editing. Will someone keep the camera steady while Mr. Li works, please?
Writer-director Bill Condon’s quietly impressive biopic of Dr. Alfred Kinsey, the pioneer of human sexuality research, is nearly as clinical in its storytelling as the man was in his research – which, as the doctor learned, can be both a strength and a weakness. Liam Neeson and Laura Linney are in fine fighting form as the doctor and his wife.
I don’t claim to be an Arthurian scholar, but I find it hard to believe that anything in this paper-thin, Jerry Bruckheimer-produced take on the legendary character is any closer to the ‘true story’ than, say, "Excalibur," "Camelot" or even "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (well, except for the singing).
