Russound is rocking the CEDIA Expo, with announcements that should put new audio products both in and outside of the house.
First up are the new Acclaim 5 Series OutBack outdoor speakers. Building on the existing Acclaim series, these new models boast better installation flexibility and a more durable chassis. Each of the units have sealed enclosures that are built with marine-grade hardware, which has been salt-tested. That means these speakers can withstand the great outdoors, even when they aren’t so great.
Inside, the speakers have polypropylene driver cones with rubber surrounds and 1-inch Teteron dome tweeters. The series comprises four models; three are stereo pairs, with one single-point stereo unit. The 4-inch 5B45 has a 4-inch polypropylene woofer, with a 88dB sensitivity rating and 10 to 100 watts of amplification. The mid-sized 5B55 sports the same woofer in a 5-inch configuration, with 90dB sensitivity and power up to 125 watts. The largest stereo model is the 5B65, which has a 6-inch woofer, sensitivity of 91 dB and up to 150 watts RMS.
The single-point 5B65S has the same 6-inch woofer as the 5B65, with a pair of angled Teteron dome tweeters on each side. It also boast a frequency response of 62 Hz to 20 kHz (+/- 3dB)
Available in black and white, each of the OutBack models are available now, and offer versatile mounting options.

Once you move inside, you can keep moving to the music, via Russound’s new X-Series lineup of stereo power amplifiers. Each of the three new models are designed to be the backbone of any home audio system, with signal-sensing inputs and front-mounted controls.
The flagship X225 model ($899) is a 2-channel amp, which provides 225 watts per channel, rated at 4 ohms (150 WPC @ 8 ohms). When in a bridged mode, the unit can deliver a whopping 470 watts at 8 ohms. The X125 ($649) is very similar, but has 80 watts per channel at 4 ohms. Russound says that both models have better than 93dB of signal-to-noise ratio throughout the audible spectrum.
At $199, the X75 is the smallest in the X Series, but still packs 75 watts per channel at 4 ohms or 60 watts at 8 ohms. It can be bridged as well, for 160 watts at 8 ohms, with 100db of signal-to-noise performance. That also allows the unit to be used as a subwoofer amp, as well as an amp for a remote zone.
All three models in the Russound X-Series are available now, and carry Russound’s two-year warranty.
