Panasonic just unveiled its latest LCD home theater projector, the PT-AE4000U. Designed for home theater enthusiasts with big picture dreams and small budgets, the unit will retail for $2,499, the lowest price ever for a 1080p projector from Panasonic. Street price should come in at a little over $2000.
What that will buy you is a pretty sweet 1080p projector. Aside from the 100,000:1 rated dynamic contrast ratio, the unit also boasts a generous 1,600 lumens of brightness and a slew of features to get your eyes popping just how you like them. These include Panasonic’s Hollywood-tuned high picture quality and Lens Memory feature, for all of you 2.35:1 theater fans out there. That memory feature allows users to program up to six different zoom/focus positions, so you can flip between 16:9 and 2.35:1 aspect ratios in a single sitting, at the touch of a button.
The company also says that the unit can pop out a 120-inch 16:9 image from as little as 11 to as much as 24 feet away. The unit’s wide lens shift capability also makes it easy to mount the PT-AE4000U on a wall or hang it from the ceiling, even if you need to be a little off from center.
Other Panny exclusives include the high precision optical lens unit, Dynamic Iris, Pure Color Filter Pro, Smooth Screen Technology, the Detail Clarity Processor 3 engine, and support for VIERA Link.
Aside from three HDMI inputs, the PT-AE4000U is equipped with component video, S-video and composite video inputs, a CGA computer input and two programmable 12-volt trigger terminals. Expect the projector to start popping up at authorized dealers sometime this month (October, 2009).
