This week is the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It’s the annual event where pretty much every consumer electronics company you’ve ever heard of (and many you’ve never heard of) come together to show off new and existing products. The show floor can get super loud, so you really need something to stand out if you want to make any sort of impression.
LG Electronics is looking to make a little noise with a slew of new audio products for home and on the go.
The standout is the new SJ9 soundbar, which packs in the power of Dolby Atmos to create an immersive audio experience — using just the one cabinet. The SJ9 has multiple speakers inside, including two up-firing drivers. Because it has that configuration and Dolby Atmos support, it can put sound almost anywhere in the room — including overhead.
LG has also equipped with SJ9 with 4K Sound 1, which is high-resolution audio compatible. Other features include Sound Upconverting to bring standard audio files up to 24-bit/192Hz, as well as 4K pass-through.

It doesn’t include Dolby Atmos support, but the SJ8 soundbar was made to be paired with any of LG’s 2017 TVs. By using the TV Perfect Fit Kit, the super-slim (38mm profile) SJ8 can actually be perfectly integrated with certain LG TV sets. It also has 4K Sound, 4K pass-through, and built-in Chromecast features.
The last new soundbar in LG’s 2017 lineup is the SJ7. This model features a split bar design, so you can place each half of the speaker on different sides of the room. The two connect wirelessly to make perfect stereo sound. One of the halves even has a built-in battery and Bluetooth support, so it can be used as a rear speaker or a portable speaker, all at the flip of a switch.
LG is also releasing three sound systems under the LOUDR line. The LOUDR CJ98 promises 3,500 watts of sound, with a Party Thruster feature that can time the bass drop with lighting effects. It even has the Karaoke Star feature and a slew of other options to pump up any party.
The LOUDR OJ98 is another all-in-one speaker system, with a folded-horn design. It also as the Party Thruster feature, as well as Sparkle Lighting that can pulse and reflect light in rhythm to the music. It even has something called Party Kick Starter, which can simulate the sound of a revving race car engine.
LG’s last portable option is the FJ7, a 400-watt portable audio system that has handles and wheels, making it easy to take a soundtrack almost anywhere.
“LG’s exciting 2017 audio lineup features powerful sound capabilities and sophisticated designs for all consumers, from audiophiles demanding absolute sound fidelity to more casual listeners,” said Brian Kwon, president and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “The stunning new audio products on display at CES this year demonstrate LG’s commitment to offering a diverse range of audio products that are perfect for any place and any occasion.”
LG Electronics has yet to announce pricing or release dates for any of these new products. Stay tuned!
